Dear Friends of FFN
I would like to begin by thanking you for your continued support of the Nepali cause. Your generosity has helped us perform a multitude of different activities over the last three months. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the Oxford and Durham students who are participating on the Everest Base Camp Expeditions 2007. They are going to be amazing trips, which I am sure you will all thoroughly enjoy. These trips will allow us to sponsor 4 more children to join Alphas as boarding students as well as to spend over £9000 on community projects. These projects will range from planting 100 fruit trees on a farm in Bhaktapur to performing building projects in areas as far a field as the Menang region. During the past 3 months, Alpha High School has seen major infrastructure improvements with the completion of:
1. The computer room with full internet access for all the computers;
2. The library with all necessary fixtures and fittings;
3. The recreation room as an area for the kids to perform indoor activities such as yoga.
4. The lifting of the roofs of 12 classrooms, thereby achieving an airier environment for studying;
5. The interior and exterior painting of all classrooms.
The building of the new accommodation area for the children has just begun and should be completed within the next two months.
We are happy to announce that FFN now has the privilege of sponsoring 19 kids to attend Alphas. We are also expecting 1 more child to be joining next month.
