A few words from the Chairman:

‘I would like to take this chance to thank all of those who have helped make FFN a reality. It has been a hectic few months, but I think it has definitely been worth it. I have to admit that six months ago I would not have dared believe how much could have been achieved in such a short period of time. It is testament to the time and dedication of the entire FFN team; you are all amazing, thank you! However it is the sponsors and donors who I reserve the greatest thanks, as without your generosity none of this could have been possible’.

An overview of FFN activity

During the last three months, FFN has had the privilege of being able to support 7 more children at Alpha High School- 6 boarders and 1 day scholar, bringing the total number of children to 12. Although this increase is an impressive achievement, there is still over a million children in Nepal who need our help. The FFN team will not relax in its search for more sponsors and donors- the long journey has just begun.

FFN has been working in collaboration with DUCK (Durham University Charity Committee) to set up a 32 day expedition to Nepal next August 2006 for 16 university students. Although the main purpose of this trip is a fundraising event, we hope to provide these students with an experience that they will cherish forever. This group will not only face the physical test of a 12 night trek to Everest Base Camp, but also the mental challenge of living and working within a Nepali community for 9 nights. Although both of these phases will be exhausting, the rewards will be endless. This trip will fund not only 2 children to study at Alpha as boarders for 10 years, but also 3 one – off community projects. FFN looks forward to building on this relationship with DUCK for the benefit of all those involved.

The July 11th charity walk was an overwhelming success, with 30 individuals participating. Over £1000 was raised, an amount far- exceeding even the most optimistic of estimates. Congratulations to all those who completed the walk and helped organize this fantastic event. Thank you to those who unable to attend the walk but still were kind enough to make a donation.

A short documentary entitled ‘A day in the life of a FFN kid’ will soon be available. Its purpose is to act as a further source of information to all those interested in the workings of FFN. For further information please contact Thomas Wells.
