Dear Friends of FFN

In contrary to my last update, this is not being written from the wonderful country that is Nepal, but from the Durham- Kingscross train! I think that this could have possibly been the most exhausting four weeks I have ever experienced, but it was certainly worth it.

Preparations for the DUCK Everest Base Camp trip 2006 are now completed. The 20 students have raised a total of £16,070.62 for FFN. This money will now fund the education of 2 underprivileged Nepalese children to join Alphas as boarding students for the next 10 years, as well as 3 one-off building projects in different community areas with each costing just over £500. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire DUCK team, who has worked tirelessly to ensure this trip is a success. But I reserve my greatest appreciation to Ed, the leaving Manager of Duck; thank you for everything you have done, you are truly amazing.

The FFN charity auction and dinner was a complete success, with over £5000 being raised. This money will now be used to pay for a child to join Alphas as a day student for the next 10 years, as well as paying for a building project similar to that of Shree Ram Mavi School at a cost of over £1500. I would like to thank Christine and David for ensuring that we had an amazing assortment of auction items. But I am sure those who attended would agree that the star of the night was our auctioneer; thank you Bob for doing an outstanding job!!!

As I will be leaving this Friday, I will soon no longer be contactable on my mobile, but if there are any problems please feel to contact me by email anytime.

Thank you all for your continued support of the Nepali cause,

Take Care

Tom Wells
